Well, Bill is doing better, but it will still be a few days before he is fully "up to snuff". What does that mean anyway? We all know kind of what it means but where does it come from? T. maybe you can find out for me. You always know about this kind of stuff.
I thought I would share this funny little conversation Bill had with Robby on Friday after preschool.
Dad: "Hey, how was school?"
Rob: "Well, nothing is wrong and I'm not nervous or anything. I just don't want to talk about it, ok."
Dad: " OK, you don't have to talk about it. I just wanted you to know that I was interested in your day."
Rob: "Dad, you're always interested in my day, but my day is just not that interesting."
Tonight, Mellie said something really cute, too. I was getting ready to take Sadie out for a potty break and Mel asks if she can come out and help. I say ,"No, it's dark."
Melanie responds innocently, "I like dark." It was just too cute.

Ode to a Mother-in-Law
I, too, like t. over at Dull as Dishwater was hit quite suddenly by the flu bug. I have a 40 minute drive to my group site on Monday mornings. I started out ok, but by the time I reached the location I knew I had it. I literally had to tell someone to cancel my group so I could go home and throw up. And, that is exactly what I did. My mother-in-law fed the kids, bathed the kids, walked the dog, cleaned up the kitchen and living room.
Monday was also the day my wonderful dear husband was tested for mono. Today it was confirmed. While I was down, I'm pretty sure she fed him, too, and gave him lots of medical advice. Like "You need to use saline spray". Which, of course is helping because moms are always right.
Yesterday, was my mother-in-laws birthday. Poor woman had to spend it with two preschoolers and their sick parents. We let her choose a restaurant. And then she took us to ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. It was awesome. It was my first real food and it tasted so good.
And, then today was the day my incredible Mother-in-law had to leave me. "NOOOOOOO". "Please come back". "I can't do this with out you". "Who will help me with the kids if they get sick on top of an already sick Husband"? (Not literally 'on top' of him, you know what I mean.) Anyway, these have been some of my thoughts today.
And, I mean them. There are always lots of jokes about the "monster"-in-law, but I have been so blessed with great in-laws. We have a great relationship. I wouldn't trade my husband's parents for anyone else in the world. They did raise an awesome son. And, he is cute. He had to get that from somewhere. But, most of all I love them for them. My in-laws are caring, giving unselfish people. Especially my mother-in-law. She gave of herself so completely the last few months to her children and continued to give right to the end, even on her birthday. So today I post an Ode to my mother-in-law. You, know what I don't think that suits her so maybe I will start calling her my mother-in-love because that is what brought her to me. Love for her son and now a special love for her. Love you so much!

Strange bedfellows indeed
I know how some of you like odd news stories, so I thought I would share this one with you real quick. I am at work enjoying my brand new computer so I probably should not spend too much time blogging. But I will tell you what a joy it is to have a reasonably functioning computer here. I'm sorry but windows 98 and windows 95 are no longer reasonably functioning computer systems for 2006. Thanks to my job for getting us all brand new dell's with windows xp. The only problem is I am so tempted to use it when I should be doing paperwork. Enjoy the following story of the "strange bedfellows".

Our New Puppy
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the newest member of our family, Sadie. She is a five month old beagle-jack russell terrior mix. We adopted her from the Noah's Ark Animal Shelter in Fairfield, IA. We were able to meet them in Des Moines at the Petsmart. When we got there, we were told that lots of people had wanted her but they had saved her for us. Noah's Ark has been great to work with if any of you are interested in adopting a pet. Sadie has been a lot of fun. She will be a surprise for our kids when they return tomorrow. I can't wait to see their reactions to her. It ought to be a pretty funny sight. They have been asking us to get a dog for a long time now. We have done a ton of research to find just the right mix, age, size, energy level etc. So far Sadie has been an angel. No accidents, sleeps in her crate all night. Last night when I went to church, I must not have gotten her crate shut all the way; when we came home the door was open and she was sleeping on our bed. We thought for sure she would have trashed the place, but there was only one shredded up kleenex. Oh, and she licked up my stuffed animal puppy named Nuzzle. Sadie is a real sweetheart and we know she will be a good addition to our family.

Hi, Everyone
Hi friends, sorry I haven't blogged much lately. Haven't felt real well since I got my wisdom teeth pulled. Since my husband has returned to the blogging world he has tagged me for Heth's meme. So here I go...(again on my own. Going down... oh never mind).
Four Jobs I have had in my life:
1.Restaurant hostess/waitress - I did this at an Iowa Machine Shed Restaurant and at Romano's Macaroni Grill
2.Retail Store - I have worked at a few retail stores and loved them all for obvious reasons: Victoria's Secret, Gordon's Jewelers, Dillard's Cosmetics Dept. and Ann Taylor
3.Substitute Pre-school teacher for 7 weeks right before I got married. Naptime was the BEST.
4.Social Worker/Counselor/Advocate- All the same sort of job, just different agencies, different government funding sources (which is why my jobs kept getting cut).
Four Movies I could watch over and over:
1.Cinderella - the Disney version
2. Mary Poppins
3.The Notebook
4.Napolean Dynamite
Four places I have lived:
1. My mother's womb
2. Des Moines, IA
3. Tulsa, OK
4. Waverly, IA
Four TV shows I like to watch:
1. LOST - Seriously my new addiction
2. Extreme Makeover Home Edition
3. Any of those reality murder mystery kind of shows like 20/20 or 48 hours mysteries

1. The carribbean on a cruise with my hubby and college friends.

2. sleeping in my awesome bed

Broccoli and Zucchini
Just a little update on my life, today. The kids are doing awesome! They really are having a good time. They have been to the mall, the bookstore, the zoo, to church twice and to the "Hometown Buffet" EVERYDAY. Yes, Grandma and Grandpa have discovered that they can feed my children whatever they want at this buffet for only 60 cents per year of their age. So, they have had macaroni and cheese and hamburgers and waffles and ... BROCCOLI and ZUCCHINI. This Hometown Buffet thing might not be such a bad idea. Robby called me and said "Well, mom, see, they didn't have broccoli so I had zucchini instead. " It seems to be working for everyone.
I, too, am doing pretty well. The extractions occured on the 3rd and thankfully I have not experienced my two biggest fears with all of this: profuse bleeding (only bled about an hour) and searing pain (only a general achiness that prevents me from opening my mouth bigger than a slit). I have had to stick to a liquid or gelatinous diet, though. Which is taking a toll on my digestive system, but that is a whole 'nother blog. We won't go there. My wonderful husband has been so sweet and caring, taking care of me every minute. He has brought me a little stuffed puppy named Nuzzle and lots of soup. I am reminded why I married this incredible man. Thank you, babe! Part of my lip is still numb from the anesthesia, which is very bothersome. This is what is making eating so difficult. I can't tell if I'm chewing my food or my own lip. As that improves I am looking forward to pizza and burritos and chicken, maybe some broccoli or zucchini, we'll see!
